Tuesdays and Thursdays- noon to 12:45
May 15 - June 28 and again September 4- 27
Free and Open to the Public

Tai Chi classes will be held again this June-July on the Monona Terrace Rooftop. Every summer since 1998 the Tai Chi Center has taught these free, noon-time classes that are sponsored by Group Health Cooperative, the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center.
Hundreds of people participate each year. We encourage you to join us this summer. No experience necessary! Take a break from your routine and enjoy a city's treasure: the peace and calm of tai chi, and the beauty of Lake Monona from Monona Terrace Rooftop.
Tai Chi is a relaxed, fluid, non-impact exercise form that promotes inner tranquility. This Chinese martial art is a simple yet profound daily routine for people of all ages. Recognized for centuries in China as an ideal activity for lifelong well-being, Tai Chi builds strength and endurance, enhances flexibility, improves coordination and helps reduce stress. Western medical research has begun to validate the many health benefits of Tai Chi practice.
We welcome both new and returning participants on Tuesdays from noon - 12:45, (No class the week of July 4th.) All classes are free and open to the public. You can drop-in to one session or come every time.
As in past years, Tricia Yu and instructors from the Tai Chi Center will lead the group in gentle, standing stretches; energetic warm-ups; and an easy-to-learn Tai Chi routine. This routine is modified for the drop-in class format. The sessions are designed to be enjoyable and relaxing. Participants are encouraged to only do the movements that feel comfortable to them. The class is appropriate for all ambulatory adults and teens.
No special equipment or clothing is necessary for the classes, although loose-fitting clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended. If it is hot and sunny outside, consider bringing a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and water. Bring a jacket if it is breezy.
In case of rain or a heat advisory, the Monona Terrace staff will cancel that day's class. For information, call the Monona Terrace Information Line at 608-261-4042 between 10:30am and noon. If there is no message regarding cancellation, the class will meet as scheduled.
