Tricia Yu M.A. is the former director of the Tai Chi Center in Madison, Wisconsin (1974-2005) one of the oldest and largest schools in the United States. She now director of Tai Chi Health, dedicated to disseminating her tai chi programs internationally.

Teaching tai chi, qigong and meditation has been Tricia's primary occupation since 1972. She has taught thousands of studentsthrough weekly classes at her center and through public presentations and professional training seminars. Her teaching emphasizes health of body, mind and spirit.

She is a pioneer in developiing programs that make tai chi accessible to people with a wide range of abilities and is the first to integrate tai chi into medical model exercise therapy. She co-created the ROM Dance Range of Motion Exercise and Relaxation Program in 1981, created the Tai Chi Fundamentals Program in 1996 and has collaborated with health care professionals in in developing professional training materials, national seminars and certification testing for both programs.

Her programs have been featured on Reuters, Medline Plus and dozens of other health sites internationally, in an Associated Press release that appeared in over 25 newspapers nationally, and in a number of professional publications including Journal of the American Physical Therapy Association and Journal of the Occupational Therapy Association, as well as Health Magazine, Prevention Magazine, Fitness Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Weight Watchers Magazine, and Journal of Asian Martial Arts.

She has coauthored articles on tai chi for Journal of Rehab Management, the American College of Sports Medicine's Health and Fitness Journal,  American Physical Therapy Association’s Gerinotes, and Massage and Bodywork.

Her latest book, Tai Chi Mind and Body (DK Publishing, London, 2003) features her Tai Chi Fundamentals Program, is available in twelve languages and distributed throughout Europe and Asia. The ROM Dance Program book has been translated into Korean.

As creative director of Uncharted Country Publishing, Tricia has produced a body of   informative, practical and beautiful instructional materials. Leaders in tai chi and health care recommend her instructional DVDs, books and CDs. She has conducted training seminars for thousands of health care professionals as well as the public. National conference presentations include: American Physical Therapy Association’s Annual Meeting 2001, 2004, 2005; American College of Sports Medicine's Annual Summit Meeting; Arthritis Foundation’s Annual Scientific Meeting, and National Wellness Conference Annual meeting.  She lectured for many years at the University of Wisconsin Medical School.

Tricia received her BA degree in psychology from DePauw University, and her MA in education from Claremont Graduate University. She began her study of tai chi and taoist meditation in the Republic of China in 1970 with Master Liu Pei Ch'ung and now studies with tai chi Master Benjamin Pang Jeng Lo, Maggie Newman and Grandmaster William C.C. Chen, all students of Grandmaster Cheng Man Ch'ing . She is certified by Masters Lo and Chen.
